(my) model of the moment.

i love reading international fashion magazines. one of my favorites is vivi (japan) and ever since i saw the gucci studded open-toe booties in one of the issues for the first time ever, i knew the magazine was for me. but because i'm korean and therefore somewhat biased, my favorites are ellegirl korea and vogue korea. i came across this cutie a while back, but i guess he's becoming really popular now.

name: 신민철
born in: '87
height: (only) 6'2''-ish
debut: as a runway model for a tommy hilfiger show in seoul

this is the cutest outfit.

need to find a man with steez like thissss, who happens to be an RR as well. HAHA. in my dreams.

by the way, i got a few random IM's recently from people saying that they like reading my blog. i'm so glad. :)

"i love reading what's on your blog."

a few weeks ago, my friend told me karmaloop.com was having a 50% sale off of all items, so i decided to check it out. he bought purple pants................ which i have yet to see, but i ended up purchasing a pair of nameless, black skinny jeans with gold zippers on the side. i ordered a size 26 (which i think is my size), but i got it recently and it's more like a size 27... i bought an obey sweater as well, and i normally don't wear obey, but it was only 20 bucks.

what's the point of all of this? the point is, i came across this pic in the underwear section...

she's not too pretty, but that is one of the best bodies i've ever seen in my life. even the boob job hahahaahahaa. how can a girl's waist be that thin and that... fat-less? i showed this pic to kenny and thur and they couldn't stop staring at it for several minutes. boys.

every saint has a past and every sinner has a future.

i don't read; i just look at pictures.

Wednesday, January 14

are things falling into place? take a step back and breathe.

my ideal relationship.

someone get me these, please?!?!!!!

the first week of a new semester is always so hectic... i don't really know what i'm doing and i hate all of my classes, but that's life, i guess?

i bought lolita by vladimir nabokov at the SC bookstore today while buying textbooks. my textbooks suck. they include titles such as nuclear north korea: a debate on engagement strategies and rising china and asian democratization.

great! and the end.

oh wait... an artist/illustrator i love: lovisa burfitt. she is swedish and lives in paris.

the last one's my favorite...

Monday, January 12

this is amazing. read it.

"I've noticed that there don't seem to be any porno movies
that are made for guys like me.

All the porn I've come across
was targeted at beer-swilling sports bar dwelling alpha-males
Men who like their women stupid and submissive
Men who can only get it up for monosyllabic cock-hungry nymphos
with gargantuan breasts and a three-word vocabulary.

Adult films are populated with these collagen-injected
liposuctioned women
Many of whom have resorted to surgery and self-mutilation
in an attempt to look the way they have been told to look.

These aren't real women. They're objects.
And these movies aren't erotic. They're pathetic.
These vacuum-headed fuck bunnies don't turn me on.
They disgust me.
And it's not that I'm against pornography.
I mean, I'm a guy. And guys need porn.
Fact.
"Like a preacher needs pain, like a needle needs a vein,"
Guys need porn.

But I don't wanna watch this misogynist he-man woman-hater porn.
I want porno movies that are made with guys like me in mind:
Guys who know that the sexiest thing in the world
is a woman who is smarter than you are.

You can have the whole cheerleading squad,
I want the girl in the tweed skirt and the horn-rimmed glasses:
Betty Finnebowski, the valedictorian.
Oh yes.
First I want to copy her Trig homework,
and then I want to make mad, passionate love to her
for hours and hours
until she reluctantly asks if we can stop
because she doesn't want to miss Battlestar Galactica.
Summa cum laude, baby!
That is what I call erotic.

But do you ever see that kind of a woman in a contemporary adult film?
No.
Which is why I'm going to start writing and directing Geek Porno.
I shall be the quintessential Nerd Porn Auteur.
And the women in my porno movies will be the kind
that drive nerds like me mad with desire.

I'm talking about the girls that used to fuck up the grading curve.
The girls in the Latin Club and the National Honor Society.
Chicks with weird clothes, braces, four eyes, and 4.0 GPAs.
Brainy articulate bookworms, with MENSA cards in their purses
and chips on their shoulders.

My porn starlets will come in all shapes and sizes.
My porn starlets will be too busy working on their PhD to go to the gym.

In my kind of porno movies the girls wouldn't even have to get naked.
They'd just take the guys down to the rec room and
beat them repeatedly at chess
and then talk to them for hours about Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle
or the underlying social metaphors in the Aliens movies.

Buy stock in some hand cream companies
because there is about to be a major shortage.

And I'm not just talking about straight porn. Oh no.
There should be fuck films for my nerd brethren
of all sexual orientations.
Gay nerd porn flicks with titles like "Dungeons and Drag-queens."

This idea is a fucking gold mine.
I am gonna make millions,
because this country is full of database programmers
and electronics engineers
and they aren't getting the loving they so desperately need.
And you can help . . .

If you're an intelligent woman is interested in breaking into the adult film industry,
and if you can tell me the name of Luke Skywalker's home planet,
then you are hired.

It doesn't matter if you think you're overweight or unattractive.
It doesn't matter if you don't think you're beautiful.
You are beautiful. . .
And I will make you a star.

"oh well."

today i...
1) got a late lunch with tina at toast. toast is a great LA eatery. their sandwiches are bomb but people will die after trying their sweet potato fries and signature waffles. i stuffed myself because i was starving so we...
2) went to the bev center (haha we call it the bev center) to get some exercise. HAHA. how does that work?
3) met up with peter and sue at the arclight to watch revolutionary road. we all came out of the theater very depressed. i had high expectations for this film so i was a little let down, but leo and kate were both amazing. don't watch this movie if you are already in a shitty mood, like i was and sort of still am.

i'm so beyond stressed out. what am i doing with my life? why am i not grabbing life by its balls.........? why am i at SC and not a comm or business major? what will i do with my life after i graduate? should i get a whatever job this semester (need the moolah really badly but the pay won't be that good anyway) or try to find a good internship that will look good on my resume? why am i not pursuing my idealistic/irrational/romantic dreams of becoming a patissier, architect, or fashion magazine editor? why am i forcing myself to like an academic discipline that i don't like at all? why don't i see IR in my future whatsoever? what am i doinggggggggggggggg. fucking stressed. i just don't want to regret anything. at all.

now that i got that out...

top 4 films of 2008 in my opinion:

1. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

hands down. beautiful, moving, profound...golden.

2. Iron Man

some of you will laugh that i put this as number 2, but it was one of the most entertaining movies i've ever watched in my life. my favorite marvel-comic-turned-movie so far.

3. Slumdog Millionaire

great cinematography. the whole film was very emotional and intense and i felt refreshed after watching it.

4. The Dark Knight

an obvious choice. it was only amazing because of heath ledger (and the fact that i watched it in imax!).

Friday, January 9

don't leave.

this is the first time in MY LIFE i want to tell someone not to leave. but i know my words can't change anything and that this person's departure was inevitable from the beginning anyway. why am i so good at putting myself into situations where the timing is... bad? i can't say that i'm sad. it's actually a mixture of different emotions. sorta sad, sorta feels like something is missing, sorta happy that i finally know what it feels like to not want someone to leave, sorta regretting not saying anything. haha.

i don't really know what i'm trying to say right now, but i guess i wish i could have seen where it all went.

currently...

정일우
what's so appealing about a really attractive guy who's all beaten up? i have no idea, but he is most definitely my number 1.

김준수
my former obsession with dongbang is quite an embarrassing one, but this man will always be my number 2. in the beginning, michelle and i hated him the most and thought he looked like a troll, but he has the most amazing voice in the world.

주지훈
even though i put him third, i think he's my ideal guy.

because these guys are all korean, i can imagine a lot of people thinking they all look the same. my favorite of all time?:

shia labeouf

moving on...

i've always been a huge fan and i might like her even more than la lohan. i came across this picture of hilary recently and it gives me motivation.

style. i'm so sick of the whole plaid shirt/leather jacket thing but i'm being 100% hypocritical because i own a good amount of plaid shirts and like to pair them up with my black leather jacket. but look at how nice it looks in this pic... ah, to be skinny and to be able to wear those white, shiny leggings.

Saturday, January 3

buzzed and full off of beer.

i had a total guys' night in today with solo, dong, bryan, sangchul, brennan, brain. beerpong, king's cup, FUCK YOU! (my personal favorite), and spoons (i didn't know what a four of a kind was and everyone laughed at me). and the boys caked bryan for his 21st!!! "i'm going to get pimples!"

i didn't want this blog to end up being an update on my life, but it's turning out to be that way...

louieeeeeeeechoi: to keep track of my life and read it before i die

i guess that's a good way to look at it.

anyway!

it's 09!!! woo!!!!!!!! had a massive, drunken, champagne-filled night that led to a semi-bad hangover and a very sore throat. 08, minus the jlkfsdjfksflds (no other way to describe it) financial meltdown, was the most amazing year so far, as in, a shitload of stuff happened. quick recap: got out of a 2 year relationship, met some people who i consider my close friends now, went to HK and spent $100000000, went to my first rave (love fest!), went down to my lowest weight at one point, had a bombass summer while papa-ing and salsa-ing, and partied hard in general.

that is such a shiteous recap. moving on to my Oh Nine Resolutions!

1) number 1 has been the same for the past three years. try to lose as much weight as i can... and become like this?:

nahhhh man, who am i kidding... impossibility right there. i guess my goal is to lose about 15-20 pounds and i will succeed this year!!! (pic is of miranda kerr, vickie's secret model.)
2) drink a lot less. a lot less meaning once a week, or if i can, once every 10 days.
3) spend less money and try to go shopping much much less.
4) get a job second semester, get a good internship in korea for the whole summer and actually stay the whole summer.
5) be more appreciative of my parents' actions..........
6) and the most important: study hard and try not to doubt so much... too late to change majors now, but what if i decide to? then i will go through with it and just graduate later. or i'll just try to find a niche that i really enjoy within IR and be satisfied. who knows...
7) wait, one more... find love. LAUGH OUT LOUD HAHAHA HA HA HA HAH HAHAHAHA!!!

these resolutions suck (i can so imagine one of my friends saying, "yeah they do!" right now); i should think more.

i got tatted a few weeks ago. i had been thinking about this one for over a year now and was way too excited to get it that i forgot about how painful it would be. i was hiiiiigh off of life after though and already want another one. addicting as hell and i already told myself i would stop after this last one but i recently thought of another really, really, really cool one. we'll see!

first! - symbolizes the chinese meaning of my korean name: light from a chaotic and crowded place (no i didn't jock c breezy and his tatt placement; i got it a year before he did!)

second! (you can barely see it in the picture) - make love and peace, not war.
"볼륨을 타고 높이 높이 날아가 저 멀리~ la musiqe♬"

third! and most recent - my life motto: live free, live life with no regrets, live life to the fullest, plain and simple
with the longitude and latitude of the city i love right underneath

that was such a huge post. i'm done, not tired, and still full!!! music time.

Thursday, January 1

old friends, new friends

last night i drank with a friend i hadn't seen in well over 10 years. that doesn't seem so absurd anymore now that we're in our 20's, and it's interesting to know that i'll probably be saying that more often as i get older.

all we did was get drunk and talk about how much we want to be in korea.

my next post is obviously going to be me reminiscing about 2008 and also a list of my new year's resolutions, but until then...

solomonpark 1: if you don't write in it everyday then its gonna be hard to follow it
solomonpark 1: cause the only reason i go to other blogs is because theres something new everyday
solomonpark 1: and it keeps me interested

Thursday, December 18

love of my life.

a few nights ago i drove home looking at this:

and something hit me. i keep trying to describe it in words, typing it out and backspacing, but any way i try to put it, i just end up sounding corny as hell.

i'm in love with my city. and i'm in love with usc. everything has just stirred up all these romantic notions in my head. not romantic as in "i'm in love with this boy" but romantic as in idealistic and (somewhat) impractical. i want to go on adventures and find whatever i'm trying to find.

i'm getting inked soon. my third and most likely final tatt and it's going to incorporate the one thing... no two "things" i love most.

all my parents talk about is how shitty the economy is. everyone's feeling it and christmastime doesn't feel like christmastime this year.
